Baby Elliott – Nashville Birth Story

February 29, 2012

I’ve  been thinking a lot about what words to use to describe my experience documenting little Elliott’s first breaths in the world, and I find I’m really struggling with how to fully convey it all with words. I feel so honored that Matt & Chandra asked me to be there to experience this huge moment with them.

So, because I think the photos do the best job of telling this story, here they are.

Meet  Norman Elliott  - Born February 19, 2012 – 10:55pm – 8 lbs 7 oz – 21.75 inches

Paige is here! (Southeast Missouri Newborn Photography)

February 21, 2012

I’m so happy to introduce you today to my newest cousin, little Paige! I visited her for the first time a few weeks ago (making her about 2 weeks old here) on a trip back to my home town in Missouri and just could not help myself – I mean really, could you? She got a little mad at me since we had to change her clothes, but got much happier when her momma stepped in to comfort her.  She is a doll and I can’t wait for my next visit!

Enjoy!

Kat's Nashville headshots!

February 13, 2012

Kat is currently a student at Vanderbilt (which is where her photos were taken) and just wrote a book! Yes, a book. Something I’m not so sure I could ever do.  Her book is called What’s Left of Me. It’s a Young Adult book and will be published by HarperCollins on September 18, 2012. I’m so excited for her!  If you’d like to know more you can find out all the details on Kat’s blog.

Enjoy,

Mandy

The Gavilo Family – Nashville Family Photography

February 8, 2012

I’m finding that recently the number of photo sessions I do with extended family are increasing, and I am loving it! I think it’s such a great idea to include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins (the list could go on and on) in your photo session, so you have professional photos with your whole family. It was easy to see that this family loves spending lots of time together, and it came through in the photos. And grandpa knew all kinds of tricks to help make the kids laugh, which made my job so easy! I really recommend doing this with your family!

Thanks for looking,

Mandy

An update on Don Draper!

January 30, 2012

Today’s blog post is such a fun one for me, since I get to share what’s happened with our last foster puppy Don Draper. We got the little guy  in early December when he was just 8 pounds. It’s amazing how much things change in just a few months. He is tall and those little ears are completely standing up making him look like a cross between a whippet and a german sheperd (at least to me).

He is now Bronx and is in a great forever home with Christopher & Michelle! He’s got it made! They live so close to The Ellington Ag Center we headed over there for his new family session. He took a few minutes for him to warm back up to me, but before long we were playing fetch and he was running (and running fast!) all over the place. And, as you can see, he still loves sticks.

Thanks again Christopher and Michelle for giving him such a good home!

The Stayman Family (Nashville Family Photography)

January 20, 2012

I feel so fortunate to have been able to do this session over the Christmas holidays with the Stayman family. And, to be honest, it has made me want to do a similar type of session with my family in Missouri! (yes, photographers are often the last to get their photos done).  Getting to photograph multiple generations at once is always alot of fun and doing it in a longer session allows for more time to get tons of cute candids along with the more posed shots.

Sarah’s family rented a loft in downtown Nashville for the holidays that had amazing light and was such a fun spot to do this session in. This post is going to be a long one, but there were just too many images I wanted to include, so making it smaller was really impossible :)

Thanks for looking!

Colin is 4 months! (nashville child photography)

January 18, 2012

It seems like yesterday when I was doing Colin’s newborn photos in his beautiful nursery. He’s changed so much in four months and is such a cute little guy – I just love his hair! You will too, trust me. He was great during his session  and full of big smiles!

Henley & Charley (Nashville children’s photography)

January 16, 2012

Okay, first a confession – I let myself get behind on my blogging in the rush of the holiday season.  Fortunately, that means today we all get to be reminded of the beautiful colors of late fall and forget all about these gray winter days, even if just for a few minutes.

These two beautiful sisters were absolutely great to work with. We did their session at one of my favorite locations, the Ellington Ag Center, which I love for it’s versatility and general awesomeness. This was the second time I got to work with Henley and the first for little Charley. I’d say the girls favorite part of the day was looking at the horses – which is always a favorite with little ones.

And seriously, have you seen cuter Halloween costumes?

Thanks for looking!

The Koerber family! (Southeast Missouri Family Photography)

January 10, 2012

I have known Ashley all her life, our families used to vacation together growing up, and I was so excited to get to photograph her sweet family while I was in Missouri over the holidays. We had some great weather for outdoor shots in December and little Ashtin warmed up to it quickly, and wanted to take photos all over the location!  Thanks Ashley, Justin and Ashtin :)

Here’s a preview!
