Jen & Otis {Nashville Dog & Portrait Photographer}

I'm excited to share Jen and Otis on the blog this week!

Jen adopted Otis from the Humane Association when he was about 10 weeks old and a little fluffball! After playing with him for only a few minutes, she knew he was the one. A year later, when Otis began herding practically everything in sight, Jen discovered that he is a border collie / Australian shepherd mix.

Otis is now 10 years old, but still looks very young -- and has become quite the food stealer if you aren't watching him closely!  Even though Jen does have two beautiful kids and another young pup named Fergus, she wanted this mini photo session to be just of her and her first baby.

I also still have a few more dates available for May mini sessions, so feel free to reach out to me to ask about availability and book a mini session of your own!

Winks and Whiskers Vendor Spotlight {Nashville Dog Photographer}

This week I'm delighted to present a vendor spotlight of an absolutely wonderful company called Winks and Whiskers! The organization's creators saw a need for great apparel dog owners would love to wear - made with quality material and great design in mind.

Not only are their T-shirts super comfortable and adorable (I have a few myself!), but 10% of EVERY sale goes to a dog-focused charity.

I have been working with them to create their new product look book and couldn't be more excited with the results. Here you'll see a sample of the shoots, and I'll be sharing more throughout the year on social media.

I'd love to thank all of our models (people and pups alike) who took the time to be a part of this photo session for the Winks and Whiskers' new lookbook! My hubby, David, and our two pups, Don Draper and Rollo, also joined in as models -- you can check them out in the "Drinking Buddies" shot taken at Tennessee Brew Works!

Other vendors I'd like to give a shoutout to are Earthdog and Kira's Pet Shop, whose dog collars were used in a few of the images below.

The Vreeland Family {Nashville Dog & Family Photographer}

On this week's blog I'll be showcasing a family photography session with two very sweet English bulldogs!

Below are some of my favorites from the Vreeland family's session, which includes Mary Glenn, Dave, their 14 year old son William, and their two dogs Dumplin' and Walter.

When I asked how they came up with such unique names for their dogs, Mary said, "As soon as we met Dumplin’ (when he was 6 weeks old), it was the first name that came to me – based on his looks."

And Walter's name has quite a unique story: it's Mary's maiden name! She said, "When we only had Dumplin’ and our family would travel, my parents took care of Dumplin’. English bulldogs require a great deal of attention so my parents were very kind to care for Dumplin’. When we started to consider getting another bulldog, my parents said that if we did, they would not take care of two bulldogs when we were out of town. When we got our second bulldog, my husband, son, and I thought creatively about names that would make my parents immediately love our new bulldog and decided on my maiden name, Walter!"

English bulldogs are also some of the most loyal companions. Mary described them as "essentially 60-pound kittens who need constant companionship," which I thought was the cutest and certainly accurate way to describe them - very much like our Bassett Hound Rosie!

The Vreeland Family also published a wonderful book called Dumplin' Can Play, which they wrote after their last bulldog, Rufus, passed away.

I hope that you enjoy some of these favorites from this session with such a sweet and loving family.
