The Harris Family (Part 2) {Kentucky Pet Photographer}

Here is the second half of the Harris family blog!  If you didn’t see part one, please click here: The Harris Family Part One

I am thrilled for part two, because it includes all the horses.  I grew up with horses, so taking these photos was nostalgic for me.  I felt right at home!

Sherri and Jeff Harris live on a 40-acre farm.  They are at capacity for animals with five horses, four dogs, a fish and two feral cats. Though at capacity, they still foster occasionally.  They rescue whenever they can and are bona fide animal lovers. They even feed the neighbor's cat as if he is was theirs because he enjoys their barn so much.

I just want to say, thank you Sherri and Jeff for all that you do for these animals!

Now, on to these beautiful horses…

Blackjack is a stunning Walking Horse that has trust issues based on the assumption of a less than perfect background. He came from a kill auction and has taken a very long time to him to trust again. He is regal under saddle but can be a bit unpredictable when riding.

Tonto is also a Walking Horse that came from a friend who was thinning out her herd. Tonto is beautiful, reliable and sensitive. Sherri and Jeff say they are so lucky to have him.

Roscoe is their pony who came with Tonto because they loved each other so much Sherri didn’t have the heart to separate them.  Roscoe is a comedian, athletic and has been ridden in competitions in the past.  To the Harris’ he is much more like a big, hilarious dog.

Lovie was another rescue from a kill pen. She is a beautiful, incredibly sweet and spunky spotted mare AND the only female horse. She is stunning with the one haunting blue eye and the other brown eye.  Lovie requires special attention in feed and hoof care because she has a metabolism issue most likely due to being left in a field with little care before she was rescued.

Kid One Sock is the Harris’ only Quarter horse and the only one that has papers.  Sherri was looking for a horse like him to rescue but none seemed to fit, so when he came along it was meant to be.  He had spent most of his time alone in a field without friends, so it took him a little while to adjust to the Harris herd.  He came with a severely split hoof that took almost five years of special hoof care to get back in shape.

Sherri finds it amazing and soothing just to watch them enjoy life.

I hope you enjoy their photos below as much as I did taking them!

Springtime is coming soon! I am super excited for all the flowers and plants that will be (and have already started) blooming! I have this incredible, giant Forsythia Bush right on my property, and if I do say so myself, it is a beautiful backdrop to any photo.

This week on the blog, meet Jessica and Patrick. Patrick is two year old mix between a Plott hound, Catahoula leopard and Pitbull. His name came from St. Patrick’s Day, as this is the day Jessica started fostering him two years ago! Patrick has the greatest energy and is always happy to see his people. He loves to go on hikes and many other adventures. Jessica’s favorite thing about him…he loves to snuggle!

Patrick was a rescue pup from the Humane Society of Lollypop Farm in Fairport, NY. Though he was a foster at first, this cute dog just had to be adopted. Jessica just loves that “he is a quirky mix of several breeds and just a very handsome, medium sized guy.” I couldn’t agree more!

The Unterreiner Family {Southeast Missouri Dog Photographer}

Let me start by saying that every fall I have a stack of sessions that I plan to blog, and every fall that stack gets bigger and bigger! I am truly so grateful for this. With that said, time slips on by, and before I know it I realize I have sessions from years ago that I still want to blog. Today’s blog…perfect example! It’s my sister, Lindsey, and her family from fall of 2020. My niece and nephew were 11 and 13 at the time. Because of the time lapse, I’ve included an updated photo of the two of them from this year, now BOTH teenagers! Grace is 13 and Noah is 15, and oh how they have changed in two short years.

Below are some of my favorites from our session. We did them at my favorite location on a farm near where I'm from in Southeast Missouri. While I did take some pics of their cute pups, we took a lot of just their family too!

Lindsay and her husband Ryan got two Yorkshire terriers puppies for the kids about a year and a half ago. The tiny one is Daisy, the big one is Buster. They are, oddly enough, siblings from the same litter but look nothing alike.

Daisy and Buster are both food lovers and they both agree that going to the vet and groomer is their least favorite things to do.

The family loves that their dogs are cuddlers and that this breed doesn’t shed and are small!

Also, Lindsey got a big print from this session of the family and the dogs. It’s always fun to see my work on someone’s walls, so it makes me smile when ever I go to their house and see that photo.

I hope you enjoy seeing some of my family on the blog!
