The Huse Family {Nashville Dog Photographer}

I thought a little Christmas in July would be a nice treat on the blog today. Meet the Huse Family: Laura-Kate, Collin and their two Chihuahuas. I took these photos last fall at Sarah Benson Park in Thompson’s Station, hence all the leaves and the adorable Christmas sweaters!

“All of our dogs are named with Star Wars names.” Pictured below are Yoda and Luke. They had another sweet boy, Chewy, but he passed away a few years ago. The Star Wars names are so fun! Luke came from the TN Russell Rescue in Spring Hill. He is a 3ish year old rescued chihuahua (they did the DNA test, 100% chihuahua). Luke has so many great things about him: He is spunky, opinionated and a master cuddler. He is loyal, and he enjoys nothing more than sitting on the couch cuddling.

Yoda came from the rescue Cauzican in Tallahassee Florida. Yoda is a 4ish year old rescued chihuahua (also 100% from DNA test). He is so smart, patient, and has the most gentle and kind heart. He LOVES being outside, going on long walks, and napping in a sunny window.

All of the Huse Family Chihuahua’s are rescues. Chihuahuas tend to be misunderstood, but the Huse Family knows what wonderful family members they are! They respond best to patience, positive reinforcement, and lots of love.

Enjoy a few of my favorites from our session!

Michelle, Ditch and Chestnut {Nashville Dog Photographer}

Michelle won this photo session after bidding on my auction item at a fundraiser held by Metro Animal Care and Control earlier this year. Thank you! Michelle is a big champion for dog rescue. She picks up strays and fosters regularly. In fact, these two sweet pups were strays she came across in pretty memorable ways.

Ditch was found (you guessed it!) in a ditch on July 25, 2013. A day that Michelle fondly calls Ditchmas in July. He was with his two sisters, and sadly, they were all dying from Parvo. Ditch was the only one who made it. “When he became mine, he ditched his worst days behind him” Michelle stated. He is now seven years old. He loves humans, tolerates most female dogs, and would really like to be the only male dog on the planet. Michelle refers to him as her Shepshire Chowback because his DNA test showed him as part Chow, Swiss Shepherd, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Rhodesian Ridgeback.

Chestnut seemingly chose Michelle when she ran in front of her car on Chestnut street in Nashville. She nearly caused a collision with another car! Both drivers stopped and got out, and Chestnut went straight to Michelle and started licking her face. Despite multiple efforts to find Chestnut’s owners, no one claimed her, and Chestnut got to keep Michelle.

At first Ditch wasn’t so sure about Chestnut, but now they are two peas in a pod. These two couldn’t be more different, though. Ditch is serious, smart and very responsible (minus his love for dumping garbage cans), while Chestnut is super silly, not terribly bright, loves all dogs, and loves to counter surf. “I would never have picked either dog out of a lineup, but they are actually the perfect dogs for me!”

We did this session at Ellington Agriculture Center this summer. Check out some of my favorites!

The Gruber-Houchin Family {Nashville Pet Photography}

Fall is just around the corner and the fall mini sessions calendar will be announced very soon, so sign up for the newsletter on the home page of this blog to be the first to see the dates!

On the blog this week: the Gruber-Houchin Family. This post is very timely because their baby girl made her arrival just last week!

I just know the Silver German Shepherd you see photographed below will make such a great big sister! While Presley isn’t a fan of cats, she does love her cousins…of both the canine and human type!

Presley, the name she had before becoming a part of the Gruber-Houchin household, is 3.5 years old. “The name just seemed to suit her”. Presley was adopted through the Middle Tennessee German Shepherd Rescue, which this family highly recommends!

Presley loves to fetch and play with tennis balls, not to mention treats! The Gruber-Houchin’s love that she is very protective and playful.

If this family looks familiar, well that’s because they are! I photographed them four years ago in a family mini session with their last German Shepherd, Cooper. Check out those photos here: Gruber-Houchin Family Mini Session.

Enjoy a few favorites from their maternity session! Isn’t Madalene gorgeous!
