The Davis Family {Nashville Dog Photographer}

One of the hardest parts about the work I do is capturing the last moments with a furry family member. I recently had the opportunity to take portraits for the Davis family: Jennifer and her two dogs, Sirius and Remus. Sirius passed away just a month after our session after a long illness, so it was a beautiful way to celebrate his life!

Sirius was a 9-year-old German Shepherd, who was adopted from Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown, PA and was named after the character from Harry Potter. "Sirius" is also the brightest star in the sky, known as the dog star, which was so fitting!

He loved spending time together with his mom, and although he was never a fan of baths, he put up with almost anything to please her. He was also a very laid back dog and so easy to take care of. Sirius was loyal and sweet and he'll be missed dearly!

His younger brother is Remus is a 2 1/2-year-old husky mix, and also has a name from a Harry Potter character! He loves food, running and playing with other dogs but hates being brushed (a tough quality for a husky with so much fur!). Jennifer loves that he's such a character and always has such great facial expressions. Remus came from Memphis Animal Services and was pulled for her as a foster dog through Southeast German Shepherd Rescue, but she ended up keeping him because he and Sirius got along so well!

To wrap up the session, we celebrated Sirius' birthday with a cake from Three Dog Bakery.

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from this sweet and meaningful family session!

The Whitley Pack! {Nashville Pet Photographer}

This week I wanted to take some time to spotlight my own furry family!

David and I have been involved in animals rescue for many years, and we have fostered lots of adorable pups & kittens along the way! We love being a part of the rescue community.

Below, you'll meet Don Draper, Rosie, Rollo, and our puma Buzzsaw.

Rosie is our sweet old lady. She's a 14-year-old Bassett Hound and loves getting all the attention she can possibly receive. You pet her and she'll stay by you for hours.

Don Draper and Rollo both were originally foster dogs from East C.A.N., and they stole our hearts,  so we had to bring them into the family permanently. They are doggie BFFs and love to play and hang out together. Don Draper was named after the Mad Men character since we were binge watching that when we fostered him (and he's just so handsome!). Rollo is named after a character on the show Vikings!

And last, but not least, we have our puma Buzzsaw. He's a great cat with a unique personality and he's been with our family for 12 years! He loves to sleep on my feet and get as many treats as possible.

I truly believe rescue animals are some of the best pets you can ever find. If you're looking for a new furry family member, be sure to check out my Adopt page for more information on local pet adoption and foster organizations that are great to work with!

The Hanson Family {Nashville Dog Photographer}

On the blog this week is a super sweet family: the Hansons! Meet Pamela, Craig & Pamela's dad, Ron. We took their family photos right before Thanksgiving at their new home in Mount Juliet. I actually met them 6 years ago when I photographed their anniversary party, so it was fun to get to catch up and meet their fur-babies!

Roxy is a smooth fox terrier, and her parents love that terriers always keep you on your toes. Although she was on her way to be a show dog early on, Roxy's career fell short when 6 of her adult teeth didn't come in. Her show name was Naughty but Nice, which was such a fitting name!

Her "sister" Hope is a blue Weimaraner, and is quite the sweetheart! She loves everyone and all other animals so much that she can even get a little clingy and has separation anxiety. Her parents say she can't ride in a car without being medicated or she gets sick within minutes because of her anxiety. In Pamela's words, "Our pets are a little nuts but we love them."

Thanks to Mutthead  for the adorable bandanas in their fireplace photo :)

Enjoy some of my favorites!
