The Davis Family {Nashville Dog Photographer}

One of the hardest parts about the work I do is capturing the last moments with a furry family member. I recently had the opportunity to take portraits for the Davis family: Jennifer and her two dogs, Sirius and Remus. Sirius passed away just a month after our session after a long illness, so it was a beautiful way to celebrate his life!

Sirius was a 9-year-old German Shepherd, who was adopted from Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown, PA and was named after the character from Harry Potter. "Sirius" is also the brightest star in the sky, known as the dog star, which was so fitting!

He loved spending time together with his mom, and although he was never a fan of baths, he put up with almost anything to please her. He was also a very laid back dog and so easy to take care of. Sirius was loyal and sweet and he'll be missed dearly!

His younger brother is Remus is a 2 1/2-year-old husky mix, and also has a name from a Harry Potter character! He loves food, running and playing with other dogs but hates being brushed (a tough quality for a husky with so much fur!). Jennifer loves that he's such a character and always has such great facial expressions. Remus came from Memphis Animal Services and was pulled for her as a foster dog through Southeast German Shepherd Rescue, but she ended up keeping him because he and Sirius got along so well!

To wrap up the session, we celebrated Sirius' birthday with a cake from Three Dog Bakery.

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from this sweet and meaningful family session!

The Hanson Family {Nashville Dog Photographer}

On the blog this week is a super sweet family: the Hansons! Meet Pamela, Craig & Pamela's dad, Ron. We took their family photos right before Thanksgiving at their new home in Mount Juliet. I actually met them 6 years ago when I photographed their anniversary party, so it was fun to get to catch up and meet their fur-babies!

Roxy is a smooth fox terrier, and her parents love that terriers always keep you on your toes. Although she was on her way to be a show dog early on, Roxy's career fell short when 6 of her adult teeth didn't come in. Her show name was Naughty but Nice, which was such a fitting name!

Her "sister" Hope is a blue Weimaraner, and is quite the sweetheart! She loves everyone and all other animals so much that she can even get a little clingy and has separation anxiety. Her parents say she can't ride in a car without being medicated or she gets sick within minutes because of her anxiety. In Pamela's words, "Our pets are a little nuts but we love them."

Thanks to Mutthead  for the adorable bandanas in their fireplace photo :)

Enjoy some of my favorites!

RARE Adoptables {Nashville Pet Photographer}

As you may have seen before, I often work with local animal organizations to help promote their adoption and foster programs. I recently captured some photos for RARE, also known as Rural Animal Rescue Effort, based out of Middle Tennessee.

RARE is a non-profit whose mission is to "rescue neglected and abandoned animals in the most rural areas of Tennessee" and aims to find forever homes for them in more populated areas of the state!

Below you'll get a chance to see two of their adoptable pets, one cat and one dog. Axel is a sweet Australian Shepherd/Rottweiler mix and is house trained and ready to find his new family! He's also pretty energetic and would be the perfect fit for someone who is active.

Dinah is a beautiful tortoiseshell mix, with brown and black colors on her coat. She's onlyone and a half years old, and loves to curl up and purr softly in your lap.

If you are interested in adopting either of these animals, head on over to RARE's adoption application online to get started!

And if you can't adopt please share so we can find these two their furever homes.
